THE INSTITUTE

Four Directions Institute is currently constructing its new campus at Hesperia Lake, Hesperia, California.  Phase I of the project is approximately 75% complete and 86% funded.  Completing this phase will necessitate the securing of an additional $100,000 in capital grant funding.

Four Directions Institute has secured a 25 year user agreement with Hesperia Recreation and Parks District, which is joint venturing with Four Directions Institute on the construction of the facilities. The tenure agreement is for 25 years. The facilities rest on the 200 acre Hesperia Lake Park, which includes a 6 acre lake and is contiguous with the Mojave River and two miles north of the Pacific Crest Trail.

As an element of this project, grants have been secured necessary to fully complete the project landscaping, complete two additional lakes, up-grade disabled access, create improved roads and trails, and to construct other recreation and camping facilities and are not part of this grant request.
This request is for the money necessary to complete Phase 1 of the project as scheduled for September 2003. Completion of this phase will provide facilities for teacher training classes, elementary field trips, and craft classes consistent with the current goals of the institute.
